Manchester
Sunday, November 6th, 2005From now on Manchester will be one of my favorite shopping destination. Thank goodness I brought a cargo bag along with me. Shopping in Manchester was tentatively the last thing on my mind until one of the girls brought me to Primark. The stuff there are ridiculously ‘afforable’. Can you believe that the stuff there are actually cheaper than of in China. That’s like absurd!!
I spent my entire afternoon there shopping with Eileen and Alicia. We tried on tops after tops, hogging the mirror from other patrons at the store. I went to the extreme of trying out 2 jeans and pants in full view of other shoppers as the changing room queue was too long. I had of course ‘ingenious’ ways to cover my modesty as I changed from one pants to the other. I ended buying 5 belts all within the range of 1 to 2 Pounds, 2 jeans (10 Pounds each), 1 coduroy pants (8 Pounds), 1 skirt (6 Pounds), 2 sweaters (6 Pounds each), a tie around dress (8 Pound), some accesories and bags (all 1 Pound). Life could never be sweeter then….
Alicia and I left Primark around 4.30pm as we were suppose to meet up the guys in the hotel at 5pm for dinner. Eileen continued her shopping spree. So we went ahead for dinner at an english pub located just beside the ferris wheel near MArks and Spencer. I must say the food there is EXCELLENT!!! Alicia and Michelle had the pork stillton with wine and sauteed mushroom… simply superb. However the pungent cheese taste was a bit too empowering for me. Gwen will definately love that dish. Eugene had the Stuffed Chicken Breast wrapped in Bacon on BBQ sauce. Another impeccable dish. And the serving size was just right. Husain took the cajun chiken salad, while Melanie had the same but with pita bread. I was not very hungry then so I just had their soup of the day which was SunDried Tomato and Red Pepper Soup. I was expecting the soup to resemble a minestrone but suprisingly the soup was quite creamy and rich. It was lovely.
After dinner we all headed down towards Mark and Spencer for a last minute chocolates and wine shopping. I wanted to check out the adidas store first but then again it was kinda late hence i went along with the crew. Entering M&S just feels so wonderful with all its glorious christmas decorations. Sort of makes you feel home sick, after all christmas is about getting together with family. Anyway back to shopping…. M&S was selling these adorable scrumptious christmas fruit cake with MARZIPAN… Papa’s favorite… a must get item obviously. I also bought lots of chocs and marzipan bars and wine. Hmmm… I realise something, I normally buy a lot of food stuff for my dad and nothing for my mum… jeezz I sometimes feel so biased… but then again it’s also because my dad loves chocs hence it’s easier to buy stuff from him. Where as my mum is more…well in to material goods such as bags and clothings and stuff like that which is not so easy to buy as we then to differ in taste and style. Oh well …a daughter can only do so much. Ok.. i’m trailing of topic already…
Anyway after M&S, the rest of the crew headed back to the hotel, while I proceeded to the adidas store in search for the limited green jacket. To my disappointment, the adidas store that I went was the sports outlet. The heritage store was further down the street however it closes at 7pm… I was 10 minutes late….Darn it…. I felt so down then…. Sigh, oh well I can have it all right…
Well all was still good…. I’m already looking forward to Manchester flight again…. Which will be god knows when…
