Manchester Again

Thursday, September 14th, 2006

I was looking forward to Manchester for the whole month and when finally it’s here I was so tempted to call in sick…. I went wakeboarding the day before and came back with major muscle sores….I couldn’t even get out of bed unless i roll myself off it. Did a penang yesterday and I couldn’t even open the overhead compartment let alone carry a tray with 18 cups of WBJ. And to make things worst I came down with a bad sore throat and flu.

What the heck…. I ain’t gonna let anything come btw me and Manchester..or just PRIMark actually… So off I went to endure 13hours of agony just to get to PriMark to satisfy my shopping addiction there.

By the time we reach the hotel…we still had to wait for 2 1/2 hours for our rooms. So as compensation we were given complimentary breakfast buffet…So me and my teammates all consolidated at one table and gossip througout the entire 2 hours plus till our rooms were ready. By that time, it was already way past my sleeping time and I was wide awake. So I headed straight out to PriMark with Ros, Ben and Des.

Was kinda disspointed this time at PriMark…I mean I bought stuffs..but i didn’t get that satisfactory feeling…I was still hunting for more stuff to buy. In the end I only manage to get 2 pair of boots, 2 blouse, a nightie and some lingerie…. Sad huh…

Next stop was Marks & Spencer… wanted to go there to get the Cream Spinach and Profiterolls that Serena was so excited about. I got the Spinach but I couldn’t get the Profiterolls for Serena as it will not survive the trip back to SG in my cargo bag. Plus… it’s like 1200kcal per dozen. I finally manage to get my favorite ‘Triple Chocolate Crunch’ cereal… there are just heavenly..especially taken with my chai soy milk form LAX. Fantastic.Ok Ok back to the trip…

After all the shopping, we went back to the hotel for a pee break, dropped off our stuffs and went for dinner at the tech crew joint..I managed to coerce Marchel to join us too. The menu there wasn’t great…. couldn’t help thinking about my Pork Stilton at the Oyster Bay (Another crew joint). In the end I jus ordered a jacket potato and had some of Marchel’s warm bacon salad..the salad was good but i can’t say the same for my potato.

Got back to the hotel around 8pm and took some medications and went to sleep. Woke up the next day around 10am..got ready and went to Old Trafford with Ros and Mus.. I must say..Old Trafford is just plain boring…plus I ain’t no soccer fan. We were there for like 15mins only and that was it… we decided to head back. Weather was terrible… drizzling the entire afternoon.

Basically a pretty disappointing trip this time. I guess I had enuf of Manchester the second time around. Next time I’m changing flights……

Wakeboarding

Thursday, September 14th, 2006

Went for wakeboarding at Marina Punggol 2 weeks ago with Don, Serena and her teammates. I was pretty excited as it was my first time…n I was prepared to swallow a lot of sea water.

Rendezvous was at 1pm… but as usual I woke up late, so had to rush here n there. Din have time for lunch…was still bloated from last nights lychee martinis, malibu pineapples, b52s…etc, so I just grabbed a subway and chucked it down in the car while jay chauffeured me to the bay.

Met the gang there just in time. The girls went to change while the guys went and prep up the gears and then…’all abroard ladies  and gentlemen, our Captain today will be Mr.Don and in the cabin, our in-cruise supervisor will be Mr.Rodney, we hope you will enjoy the cruise’.

There were a total of 7 that day, Serena, Don, Rod, Jess, Baby and her hongkie bf Peter, and Me. And Six of us will be taking turns to wake board…so u can imagine the wait… I let the rest go first as it was my first time and I had to ask the rest to please ‘guide me along’….

So Peter went first…and obviously he had done wakeboarding many many times….. Next was Baby… it was her 3rd time and looking at her struggling to stand up on the board gave me a glimpse of how difficult the task was going to be…Shit!!… Next was Jess(pretty good…she’s very athletic) and then followed by Serena… (needless to say Serena’s good in any sports she does)…

*Jengjengjeng*…. finally it was my turn…i can already imagine myself choking on sea water…. Rod and Don prep me up with the lifevest and then Don gave me a run through on the do’s and don’ts….Note: Never ever hang on to the rope once you fall…just let go. After the run throught he left me floating in the water ‘fark..i hope there are no sharks or huge carnivorous fishes in the water’…

While all this crap went throught me head…the next thing i know the boat was pulling me already…and as expected i fell flat on my face…that happened for the next 2 times as well…

By the fourth time I had swallowed enuf salt water and my nose was numb…. Fed up with the falls i went through all the steps Don had walked me through and then….’Da-dah.. I finally manage to stand up on the board…. and stand i did…for a very long time… i just locked my arms and froze..fearing tht any slight movement i make will sent me slamming into the water…. Oh well finally i fell anyway…. but from there on… I mastered the technic to stand…woo hoo…

Ok next was learning to swerve from side to side… so Don thought me the heel and tiptoe method….wah…waddya know…i’m a natural at it… So after a few more rounds i’m proud to say I can WAKEBOARD…not bad for a first timer eh…*muahahaha*chuckles..EGO*

On my last attempt I try to do the 180 degree move (switching ur left forward leg to right forward)…but alas…failed. Better luck next time….

By the time everyone was done it was about 6.30pm… and I was suppose to have dinner plans with Jay and his cousins at 7pm…DIE DIE DIE….. so I told Rod about it…and then we rushed back to shore. And then guess what… the boat tank  had a hole and was leaking fuel…. So Don had to fill the tank up till it’s full and speed all the way back with a trail of fuel leakage behind the boat. We manage to get back to shore in the end at about 7.30pm and Jay was already waiting for me at the bay.

We didn’t manage to go for the dinner in the end as I was totally beat out… I mean really… my body felt like it  was hit by a bullet train.. And to make it worse… I have a Penang flight to do 12hours later….. Somebody give me some miracle oitment to take away all the sore pls!!!!

But no regrets…I’ll wilingly do all that again and again and again…. I can’t wait till the next wakeboarding session…..
